Dear members of the Uniting Church community,
Thirty three years ago today the Uniting Church in Australia was born in a service of worship held in Sydney Town Hall. This followed decades of work by the founding leaders from the three uniting churches. Compared with the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, the UCA is incredibly young. Yet we have broken a lot of ground over those 33 years and opened up some real opportunities. As we reflect on the past, in the words of the hymn, “We will praise God for all that is past and trust him for all that’s to come.” So Happy Birthday Uniting Church!
"The Uniting Church affirms that it belongs to the people of God on the way to the promised end. The Uniting Church prays that, through the gift of the Spirit, God will constantly correct that which is erroneous in its life, will bring it into deeper unity with other Churches, and will use its worship, witness and service to God's eternal glory through Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen." (Basis of Union Para 18)
