Working together with your supporters to fulfil your mission

Are you a Self Help Scheme Organiser? Click here for information and resources to help you grow your Self Help Scheme!

Self Help enables many Uniting Church organisations to fulfil their mission by harnessing the support of their members and friends. Self Help is made of two parts:

Members and friends are able to provide direct, ongoing financial support to their chosen Uniting Church organisation by foregoing their interest and redirecting this benefit to the organisation’s Self Help Scheme.

Self Help is simple to manage and gives Uniting Church organisations a way to increase financial support for their mission.

How Self Help Works

A Uniting Church organisation establishes a Self Help Scheme with Uniting Financial Services by opening a Self Help Settlement Facility. Once established, members and friends are invited to support the organisation by opening a Self Help Investment and linking it to the Self Help Scheme.

Investors can remain anonymous to the Scheme if they choose.

Self Help Investors forego their interest, and this benefit is credited to the Self Help Scheme on a quarterly basis. Self Help income can be used for any mission purpose deemed appropriate.

Uniting Church organisations may also apply for a Self Help Loan, and use their Self Help Scheme’s income to repay their loan.

Uniting Financial Services makes it easy to manage and promote Self Help to supporters, by:
