Warren Bird, the Executive Director of Uniting Financial Services (UFS) and Matthew Moore, Head of Ethical Investments recently attended the United Nations’ Principles of Responsible Investment (UNPRI) conference in Singapore. UFS is a signatory to the UNPRI, committing us to integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into the investment decisions of UFS.

“Attending the Conference was a very worthwhile experience for us,” Warren said. “We gained valuable information about what global investors are thinking and doing in the responsible investment field and met some people that it will be great to continue to share ideas with.”

Matt says that he and Warren were encouraged to compare the UFS approach to integration of ESG with those of other large, global fund managers. “Many other signatories are just coming to grips with integration, but UFS has been doing this for many years already,” he said.

“UFS is committed to implementing the Uniting Church’s ethical and ESG investment policy across all its investments,” adds Warren. “ The Conference confirmed for us that, although others approach these matters in different ways to UFS, we are not alone in seeking to use our investments in a manner that does not harm others or the environment and, further, seeks to encourage positive outcomes.”
